Qetaifan Island North looks forward to welcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 fans

The first phase is planned for completion in November 2021.
Qetaifan Island North, the first Entertainment Island in Qatar, is the closest to Lusail Stadium where the inauguration of the FIFA World Cup 2022 will take place, and hence will be the fans’ favourite touristic destination for its unique elements and attractions that the whole family can enjoy; starting with the Waterpark inspired by the Qatari culture and the production of oil and gas. The state-of-the-art Waterpark will provide tourists with a perfect getaway. Spanning over an area of approximately 160,000 square meters of the island, the waterpark features over 10 attractions. Each attraction has 2 to 3 rides, including an edutainment ride, which has a unique design inspired by the history of oil discovery in Qatar; it is to explain the process of how oil is formed, located, drilled, extracted, transported, separated and then used in today’s world. The ride follows a track through a set of scenes. With the addition of special effects such as; 3D mapping, Animatronics, Projection, Special Lighting, Heat, Vibration, Lightning, Drilling Machines and Fog Screens, the story is enhanced and enriched into an exciting and immersive ride with thrills and exhilaration throughout its length.

You can also experience the adrenaline rush in The Icon Tower—a distinct zone in the water park. It is the world’s highest tower of its kind, which is 80 metre high, located on a small island opposite Qetaifan Island North and linked to it with a causeway. You can reach the Icon Tower with an especially designed train that passes by the causeway to enjoy the premier rides including a 26-metre-tall rotating water slide, which is the first of its kind in the region. An elevator will also be serving all floors within the tower.

Qetaifan Island North: Qatar’s future entertainment and touristic destination

Qetaifan Island North also features a luxurious hotel operated by Rixos for the first time in Qatar, a beach club, in addition to diversified waterfronts, a linear park along the island surrounded by retail outlets and services, in addition to distinct waterfront neighbourhoods, a mosque, school, and world-class spas.
In addition to residential and commercial properties that will serve the tournament, tourists and fans can also use water taxis for transportation from Qetaifan Island North to avoid the crowd and traffic to Lusail Stadium.
In view of the proximity of Qetaifan Island North to Lusail International Stadium, which will host the final game and closing ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2022, and the expected high numbers of tourists and fans that will visit Qatar before and during the World Cup, which will be held for the first time in the Middle East, the island will provide all the needs of the masses and tourists; with projects, facilities, and entertainment activities in addition to temporary floating hotels for the first time in Qatar and fan villages with the capacity of 5,000 fans.
It is worth mentioning that Qetaifan Island North features seven beaches; which makes it the city’s distinct waterfront destination. The island spans approximately 1.3 million square metres with 830,000 square metres of attractions.

Exciting waterpark rides

If you are seeking relief from the heat and at the same time want to make a splash into a world of excitement and adventure, the Island’s main attraction, the state-of-the-art Waterpark will provide you with a perfect getaway. Beach Club

The Beach Club is the first element planned for completion on the island. It will be operated by Rixos International Hotels, and basically has all the facilities of a 5-star hotel without keys. Its gross floor area is 4,300 metre square and the beach is approximately 12,000 metre square. The clubhouse offers an assemblage of activities to be enjoyed by the whole family. The family-friendly luxury club is recognized as the waterfront attraction of the island; featuring a white sand beach, infinity pool, restaurant, cabanas, spa, gym, as well as a kids’ area. The Island’s sales centre will also be located in the beach club’s building.

The lush green linear park

The Linear Park is the main artery of the island, linking all zones together. An artificial Salt Canal linked to the sea, allowing visitors to enjoy fishing, boating and plenty of other family-friendly fun activities inspired by the Qatari culture, in addition to daily entertainment performed by internationally renowned teams. Spread over the canal side are community facilities, such as retail, F&B, sports activities, and entertainment outlets.

Retail Plaza

Qetaifan Island North is a global-scale public attraction, and a hub for hospitality and leisure. The retail services on the island include F&B, Edutainment, Entertainment, in addition to the Souq; a market inspired by the Qatari culture, overlooking the Linear Park, offering a unique shopping experience for the whole family.
